Another one lost
Upon arriving home this evening, after being away to celebrate the Fourth, we discovered one of the Barn Swallow babies had been pushed out of the nest at some point during the day and likely perished from lack of being fed. This puts the current baby count at 4.

One of the remaining young is being fed by one of the parents.

Why oh why do you birds feel you need to sit on the edge of the nest??? And why do your parents let you? Perhaps that is the bigger question.
Three of the remaining four look like they are doing okay. That fourth one that is lower in the nest either is too weak to hang out with the rest of its siblings or feels there is not enough room to sit with them.
