Cedar & Juniper
I have to give credit to the previous owners of my house in Rochester, NY because they had a fantastic green thumb. In addition to the Linden trees they planted, in the front of the house they had planted a ton of small juniper bushes.
Not only did the juniper bushes smell good, but they produced berries that attracted all sorts of wildlife. Okay, that's a bit much... I mostly really saw SPIDERS and spider webs, but at least I was able to get some neat photos from them!
Fast forward to the house Minnesota. Instead of bushes, we planted Juniper trees instead. Juniper trees are good bird attractors because of the berries they produce. And Guess who, after over 2 years, finally decided to visit?

Not only did the Cedar Waxwings come once, but they came two days in a row! There was a pair of them eating the juniper berries from the trees, and then darting back into the linden trees for cover.

One of the Cedar Waxwings took off after noticing I was paying too much attention to them. I hope they decide to come back more often. They can even eat the crabapples if they want!
